Doo we doooooooo!  Doooooo do doooooo!  Alternatively, VWORP!  VWORP!

If you’re a fan of the Doctor like me, that attempt at vocalizations may have set off something of a pavlovian reaction that involved fezes, bow ties, uncontrollable sobbing, searching for a blue police box that had a mad man in it.  It’s okay.  We’re all suffering Doctor Withdrawal/Impending Regeneration Syndrome until November.  These cookies will help.

I got the cutter from WarpZone Prints, and it is available for purchase, along with some other amazing fandom cutters.  But, unless you get a rush order, please be aware that there may be a week-plus backlog when you order.  And just be sure to give the cutters a good run through the dishwasher first, and they’ll be ready to go (I had tried this recipe prior, but it didn’t quite turn out.)

Try not to eat them all at once.  It’s hard, I know.

TARDIS Blue Sugar Cookies
Full batch makes something like 3 doz cookies, minimum

Ingredients

  • 2.5 sticks butter at room temp
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and with seeds scraped out (I recommend using a chopstick to get the maximum amount of seeds out)
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 2.5 c flour
  • .5 t baking powder
  • .5 t salt
  • 3-4 drops blue food coloring (you may want more for a more TARDIS blue)

Cream your butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, and then add your egg, and then your vanilla bean seeds and vanilla extract, and beat until just barely combined.  In a separate bowl, whisk together your flour, baking powder, and salt, and then slowly add it to the dough, until fully combined.  Add your food coloring, and mix until the dough is uniformly blue. Then, split your dough into two pieces, and wrap in plastic wrap and flatten till you have a disc about an inch thick.  Put them in the fridge for at least four hours (I went overnight).

Whenever you’re ready to bake them, heat your oven to 350 (I did 325, bc my fucking oven), and roll out the dough (I used tin foil, but plastic wrap and parchment paper are way more recommended) and use your cutout to make your cookies!  Ball and roll up the dough until you run out of dough to use for cookies.  Bake for 10 to 17 mins depending on how thick your cookies are, and whether or not you throw your cut out cookies into the fridge before putting them into the oven.

And then, try not to eat them all while sobbing over the latest eps.  Also note that you can withhold the blue food coloring to have a pretty damn good sugar cookie recipe besides.
